Maxon Cinebench R10
Cinebench R10 is a free benchmarking tool that is available for Windows and Mac operating systems, and runs several tests on computers to measure the performance of the processor and graphics card under real-world circumstances and makes use of up to 16 cpus or cpu cores. Cinebench's test process is in two-phases: The first test procedure is directed against the cpu using a 3D render scene and photo reaslistic image settings shown above to test how fast the cpu can produce the fully rendered scene. During the 1st pass of the test, the benchmark will only use one cpu, or in a multi-cpu core system it will use only a single cpu core to render the photorealistic scene to get a base value against which it will then perform the 2nd phase of the test using all of the cpu cores available. Higher Frames/Second and lower rendering time in seconds equals better performance. During our tests we noticed that one of our sidebar widgets in Vista clearly showed that Cinebench did as it says and for the 1st test used a single core to maximum, and during the 2nd phase of the test it used all four cpu cores to their maximum.
Default CPU Clock Speed:
Looking at the cpus performance, you can see that during the single core phase of the test running at the default 2.5GHz, we achieved 2089 CB-CPU points, and during the 2nd phase of the test using all four cpu cores at the default 2.5GHz, we achieved 8002 CB-CPU points. The multiprocessor speedup reported during the tests was x3.83 when comparing the single core rendering to quad core render times. Notice that the multiprocessor speedup was not quite 4 times the speed of a single core, but it came very close to achieving this at 3.83 times the speed increase and we were very happy with these results. As for the OpenGL test, the graphical portion of the benchmark, the default Phenom 9850 clock speed of 2.5GHz received 3212 CB-GFX points and showed the power and might of the nVidia 8800 GTX video card we ran in the system during our test procedures.

Overclocked CPU Clock Speed:
With the Phenom X4 9850 overclocked to 3.0GHz the cpus performance increased quite a bit, as you can see that during the single core phase of the test running at the 3.0GHz, we achieved 2476 CB-CPU points, and during the 2nd phase of the test using all four cpu cores at 3.0GHz, we achieved 9605 CB-CPU points. The multiprocessor speedup reported during the tests was x3.88 when comparing the single core rendering to quad core render times. Notice that the multiprocessor speedup came quite close to reaching the speed 4 times that of the single core. As for the OpenGL test, the graphical portion of the benchmark, the Overclocked Phenom 9850 clock speed of 3.0GHz received 3159 CB-GFX points. Notice in both screenshots, at the bottom, the time it took to render the scene with all four cores in both situations. At the default 2.5GHz that the Phenom 9850 runs at, it took 1 min. and 50 seconds to render the scene; while the Phenom 9850 overclocked to 3.0GHz took 1 min. and 32 seconds or 18 seconds less to render the same exact scene!
