AMD Introduces Two New Low Power Processors
Conclusion:
These two new processors are perfect for the average home user, business user with heat and power concerns, and consumer with power or media playback in mind. The efficiency and TDP of 45 watts is excellent and Cool N Quiet once again shows its performance by lowering not only the power consumption but also the heat output by a large margin.
While we cannot say this processor is a race horse we can say that for its intended purpose it will work quite well and at a price that is much, much lower than anything Intel has to offer on the energy efficient side of things. We will hold back our judgement on availability of these processors but AMD started this offering specifically to combat its issues with its last energy efficient offering and as such they have taken into account the potential demand from the market of these. We do not expect AMD will have issues with supply.
Our testing showed that the BE-2350 is both a stable and cool running processor. During our first round of testing we though we might have mistakenly enabled Cool N Quiet as the machine runs nearly cold. For the heat concious who do not desire a machine which can double as a space heater the BE-2350 or BE-2300 is the right choice.
