HighPoint RocketRAID 3520 SATA Raid Controller
Conclusion:
The High Point Rocket RAID 3520 clearly has the capability of being a speed demon. Our results are only based on a 4 drive RAID array and we would be thrilled to have the opportunity to benchmark this drive again using all 8 drives for some real scortching numbers. During our testing the controller was only mildly warm and at no time did we receive any errors or issues beyond our initial problems going beyond 2TB for which there is now a windows based solution.
The High Point RocketRAID 3520 is ideal for businesses and consumers which desire extremely quick file access, easy installation, and expandability up to 8 drives. The 3520 has support for nearly every mainstream OS used and was simple to install and get working.
For a RAID controller with the enterprise grade features and serious performance results that the RocketRAID 3520 has it can be found at a relatively cheap ~$500 at several online retailers.
We were happily surprised by the performance of the 3520 and easily award this controller our Editor's Choice Award for best in class performance.
