The Samsung SW-240 is a high-speed CD burner that can burn up to a maximum speed of 40x, rewrite up to 12x and read up to 40x. One of the best features of this model is its 8MB of buffer memory. CDRW drives usually have only a 2MB cache, but Samsung has included 8MB. This means it will be more difficult for the buffer to be depleted during a CD burn, because there will be more data for the buffer to fall back on, in case the source device is having trouble sending data quickly enough.

Here is the front side of the drive. Samsung keeps the same physical design for their optical drives; the design is simple and nice, and gives a stylish, and professional appearance. On the right, there is a single LED neighbored by a clear eject button. When the LED turns on, the eject button also lights up. This is a very nice touch.

The back of the drive is as the same as virtually every optical drive. Included are ports for power, IDE, and audio connectors, as well as the master/slave/cable select jumper configuration.

Samsung has included a set of screws, an audio cable, an IDE cable, Nero Burning rom software, a blank CD-R, a blank CD-RW, and a comprehensive manual (printed in 10 different languages for good measure).

The SM-332 is a combo drive that can read CDs at 40x and DVDs at 12x, write CDs at 32x and CDRW at 12x. Like the SW-240, this model also features more buffer memory than the industry standard. The particularily nice aspect of this drive, is that you can save a lot of money and buy one drive and be able to burn CDs and play DVDs, without having to buy two separate drives. The front is, again, the same design of all the other Samsung optical drives, with the exception of a few added logos.

The back of the SM-332 is exactly the same as that of the SW-240.

The SM-332 comes with a set of screws, an in-depth manual, an audio cable, Nero burning ROM, Power DVD, a CD-R and a CD-RW disc.
