3D Performance:
The Forsa Geforce FX 5200 non-ultra was tested in both 3Dmark 2001 and 3D mark 2003.
The 5200 was installed into the following system for benchmarking:
Abit NF7-S
AMD Barton 2500+
512 MB PC3200
Western Digital 800JB
Western Digital 800BB
Lite-On 16X DVD
Samsung 52x24x52 CDRW
Onboard NIC
The results show that the 5200 is no speed demon by far but it produces respectable results for the category in which its intended to be marketed in. The Forsa card was also tested for video playback quality using Microsoft Media 9 Series video clips to stess the card and show any weakness. The "Coral Reef Adventure" (1080p, 8.2 Mbps, 1:43 min, 102 MB) video clip was used as it passes the highest amount of data through the system at 8.2 Mbps. Using the statistics function of media player to show the frames skipped and actual frame rate the following was observed.
At an average rate of 22.9 frames per second its just a hair under full motion video and on screen looked very smooth. The 8X AGP and 128MB of DDR helps in that category and are again a surprise for a budget video card.
On to the Conclusions.
