PCMark Vantage |
PCMark® Vantage is the first objective hardware performance benchmark for PCs running 32 and 64 bit versions of Microsoft® Windows Vista®. PCMark Vantage is perfectly suited for benchmarking any type of Microsoft® Windows Vista PC from multimedia home entertainment systems and laptops to dedicated workstations and hi-end gaming rigs. Regardless of whether the consumer is an artist or an IT Professional, PCMark Vantage shows the user where their system soars or falls flat, and how to get the most performance possible out of their hardware. PCMark Vantage is easy enough for even the most casual enthusiast to use yet supports in-depth, professional industry grade testing.
We chose no Anti-Aliasing, and left all testing suites selected. We selected the two resolutions that the average gamer may use with the Gigabyte 9800GT. The only available resolutions for PCMark Vantage are 640x480, 1024x768, and 1280x960. We felt 640x480 was not necessary for this test.

As we expected, the FPS drops as our resolution increases, though only slightly. During game play, it is normally accepted that ~30FPS is playable. This does not apply to PCMark scores, as it is an entirely different test, and does not reflect real-world results.
Strangely, our PCMark score increases as the resolution is increased.
