Inno3D Geforce FX 5700 Ultra

Review by Jason Jacobs on 2/13/04

Test System

The 5700 Ultra was installed into the following system for gameplay comparisons:

Abit NF7-S
AMD Barton 2500+ running 2.6 ghz
512 MB PC3700 Hyper X
Western Digital 800JB
Western Digital 800BB
Lite-On DVD-RW
Samsung 52x24x52 CDRW
Onboard NIC

Inno3D has choosen to manufacturer the card using a black PCB board and an attractive HSF cover. This card would look excellent in any case with color highlights and a window. The HSF covers the memory on both front and back as is the current trend. With the memory running at 900mhz and the core clock running at 475mhz the heatsink gets warm in a hurry. Removing the front heatsink revealed the GPU. The 5700 Ultra GPU had very little thermal compound and the memory contact to the heatsink used thermal pads on both front and back. If Inno3D really wanted a performer they should have used a quality thermal paste instead.

The 5700 Ultra was compared against three other graphics cards to provide a range of cost/performance. The video cards in the lineup were:

Inno3d 5700 Ultra
Forsa 5600 Non-Ultra
Powercolor 9800 Pro
ATI 9600 XT
