MvixUSA MX-760HD

Specifications

The MX-760HD is jammed packed with features to say the least. The OS is LINUX-like with very specific menus and options which will not leave you confused or wondering how to accomplish a task. The MX-760HD comes with RJ45 Ethernet (10/100) or Wireless LAN 802.11b/g adapter, which in our experience with the MX-760HD was a small challenge to configure the device, but we were eventually able to get it connected after a few minutes.

The main purpose of the MX-760HD is the ability to stream media from you PC to a TV, but the only way to store media to MX-760HD is to connect the MX-760HD directly to your PC’s USB and use the MX-760HD as an external hard drive. Even though the device can be connected to the network via Ethernet, the wireless option to push media to the MX-760HD’s hard drive would be more convenient then physically connecting the device every time. It must be mentioned that wireless transfer of data to any external storage device is always slower than directly connected via ethernet or USB. Since the MX-760HD is small in sizeand doesn’t require much power, you are able to take it in the car with the addition of a power inverter from your local RadioShack or hardware store. This means you can connect it to your in-car media display and let the family, friends, or kids watch movies and media on the go. If your car is not outfit with an LCD you could get ghetto and use your PC LCD and the same inverter as your PCs flat panel monitor doesn’t consume as much as your standard CRT monitor, for this purpose a 15 to 14 inch LCD would probably work best. With a 500+ GB hard drive you can store most if not all of your DVD movie collection and MP3s. The MX-760HD does come with multiple options for audio out-put, but for the in car concept, you will have to provide your own speaker system. The MV-500 does come with an FM transmitter which is capable of broadcasting the audio signal to your automobile’s sound system.
