CPU-Z / GPU-Z / System Properties:

We ran CPU-Z v 1.47 to see and make certain of the hardware we were testing. You can see from the images that we used an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4850e dual core cpu for these tests, which runs at a standard 2.50Ghz speed. The mainboard can be seen in the next tab, to have the RS780-SB700 model of the AMD 780G chipset using the ATI south bridge SB700. The bios used was the default Pheonix Bios v. 6.00 PG dated January 31, 2008. You can see in the CPU-Z memory disclosure that we are using a single 1Gb stick of DDR2 ram for these tests, although we would have much preferred to run the tests using 2Gb's of DDR2 ram which would have greatly improved the scores, but we had no more ram available at the time of these tests.

When it came to the on-board graphics, the onboard video was not impressive as we would have liked but suffice to say that it did have more than enough video-muscle to perform most everyone's normal list of computer routines and browsing the internets many flash-heavy websites. There was even enough "video-power" to do some types of gaming. We used TechPowerUp's GPU-Z video graphics tester to see what exactly the on-board video contained. Notice from the image below that the Sapphire Pure 780G does take advantage of the RS780 GPU containing the 55nm technology, with the GPU clock set at 500 Mhz and the memory running at 500 Mhz for the on-board ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics Processor.

To see how much of the 1 Gb of DDR2 ram was being used for the on-board video processor, we pulled up our system properties and noticed that out of 1024 MB of ram, the system was using 128 MB for the video leaving the operating system with 896 MB. You will need to take this into account should you not opt to add another video card to this system and/or if you choose to run the ATI Hybrid CrossFireX technology by simply adding a compatible ATI CrossFireX video card.
