Half Life 2: Episode 2

Sapphire HD 4870 Toxic Edition

Half-Life 2: Episode Two is the second installment in Valve Corporation's series of episodes for the first person shooter computer game Half-Life 2. The first two episodes of Half-Life 2 were developed concurrently by separate teams. This episode was released as a part of a bundled package, The Orange Box. A separate copy of Episode Two is available in Russia and via Steam worldwide. Continuing with Valve's policy of orienting each episode around a particular theme or set of technologies, Episode Two aims to focus on expansive environments, travel and less linear play. Following the closing events of Episode One, it sees Gordon Freeman and the series' other major players moving away from City 17 to the surrounding countryside.

Benchmarking

To test Half Life 2: Episode 2 I recorded a time demo of me on the level “Freeman Pontifex” of me running around outside killing the two large ant lions; if you’ve played the game you know what I’m referring to. This is an outside scene with a lot going on, in hopes to stress the game to its maximum.  This is the level I’m talking about:

Here is the settings used, notice that everything is maxed out.  The only things I did adjust in testing were anti-aliasing and antroscopic filtering.

As you can see turning just AA on was fine, but when I added AF some weird stuff started happening.  Either way this video card dominated this game and it proved no real challenge for it.

And the last stop on our look at the Sapphire 4870 Toxic Edition is the popular multiplayer game Call of Duty 4.
