Macworld 2008

Day 1 - Registration & Camp-out

I flew in the day before and had already completed my registration. Monday, I went to Moscone West (main exhibition building) and joined everyone else in line. Even with the line having reached outside and around half of the building, it only took about 25 minutes to get my badge. Nothing was open to the public yet, so I spent some time taking pictures and getting familiar with the area.

After some personal deliberation, I decided that since I did not have a Super or Platinum pass (which pretty much gets you a seat as long as you show up), I was going to camp-out all night to get a seat at the following morning's keynote. I found out from former attendees that they split up the line. In the very front were Super and Platinum pass registrants (they did not have to show up until the morning), then the press, then the user conference pass holders like myself. In years prior, the line was simply a first-come, first-served deal. It was a fun night though. Just behind me was a large crew from various Google offices who I got to talk to while we all froze our butts off in the cold. Plenty more people showed up throughout the night.
