Raid and Gaming Performance

Server Testing:

We tested the HighPoint 3520 using Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. Our results varied wildly and were more than likley due to driver optimizations for this card for each OS.

We tested using the following software:

Sisoft Sandra Disk Benchmark

Windows 2003 Raid 0
Windows Vista Raid 0
Windows 2008 Raid 0
Windows 2003 WD Raptor
Windows Vista WD Raptor
Windows 2008 WD Raptor

As you can see the Raid 0 Array wins in each benchmark across the board and posts the most impressive results in Windows 2003. this does make a certain amount of sense as the hardware is meant to be utilized in a Server 2003 environment.

Sisoft Sandra Storage Benchmark

Windows 2003 Raid 0
Windows Vista Raid 0
Windows 2008 Raid 0
Windows 2003 WD Raptor
Windows Vista WD Raptor
Windows 2008 WD Raptor

HD Tach

Windows 2003 Raid 0 - Long Test Windows 2003 Raid 0 -Quick Test

HD Tune

Windows 2003 WD Raptor

HD Tune refused to allow the test to be run on the Raid 0 array. As such we were unable to present you with this test's results.

Drive Info Windows 2003

For most of you this will be the first time you have seen Windows report a drive larger than 2TB and possibly the largest volume you have seen. We expect given a few years 8TB volumes may be considered small.
