CrystalDisk proved a much more consistent test showing results that varied only slightly. Once again here we see the Raid 0 array toast the Western Digital Raptor by a factor of 11+ in each case for sequential reads. The greatest variance we saw was in the 4K read and write MB/s between Windows 2003 and Windows Vista in which it seems the drivers are least optimized for the HighPoint controller. Even under this scenario the 3520 turns in impressive results. You won't be seeing numbers like these outside of a high end SAS array which will cost you significantly more money.

With DataMark we received mixed results and this was the first benchmark in which Windows 2008 posted the best results for the 3520 Raid Array. In each case the Raptor posted results 3x slower than the Raid 0 which was to be expected. As you can see though the Raptor has a significantly faster access time than the Raid 0 array due to its much greater rotational speed of 10,000rpm.
