2001 Ford Expedition Side Mirror Replacement
Replacing the Side Mirrors:
OK so you've made it this far, and hopefully you haven't broken something. We'll start from the previous page. We now have to peel back the sticky gray stuff from the door to expose the plug that powers the mirror. Peel it back from the upper left corner to find this. Now you're going to unplug it and feed it back through the hole in the door.

Remember where you took off the sail panel? Remove the sticky gray piece to expose the three bolts for the mirror.

Notice the three bolts. |
Now you need to take a 7/16" socket wrench and remove the three bolts from the mirror.Be VERY careful that you don't drop these inside the door. I have no clue how you would get these back. The best way is to loosen them with the socket wrench, then remove them from the hole with needle-nose pliars. Once these are removed, the side mirror will fall loose! Make sure you have someone holding it when you do this. There is a tab that slides into the side of the mirror on the front. There is a 75% chance you will break this. I broke the right side on mine and just ignored it on the left side.
Now take the new mirror, feed the cable through the hole and plug it back into the spot on the door. Backtrack all of the steps and you have your new mirror!
