With the slot load you get a digital hookup on the back. It is a small two pin slot that hard wires to your sound card, enabling the transfer of digital information. It also has the standard four-wire analog hook up as well. That...plus the fact that the specs on the 106S/2 are better than the old Pioneer 116 and 117. Don't know if that holds true for the newly released 119 tray load model. I do know the 119 is supposed to be quieter and the tray has some sort of fluid dampener to make the tray load smoother...at least that is what I have heard.

I did just buy a new TDK 48/16-24/48 CD-RW last night. CompUSA has a great deal...it is just $79.99 with a $40 rebate. Can't believe you can get such a good deal on a fast and top-rated burner.

All I need for this new machine yet is the Santa Cruz sound card, the DVD player and a set of speakers. Would like to buy some Klipsch like I have for my other computer... Alas, looks like I will only be able to afford a set of the Logitech Z-340s They are only like $35-40 and sound pretty good for inexpensive speakers. I can always replace them with the Klipsch at some future time.

I am also having an issue with a bad Crucial memory module. Still waiting to hear back from Crucial to see how good their limited lifetime warranty really is. Oh well, this building and rebuilding is a never-ending story...but it keeps me off the streets. Now if I could just win a few million in the lottery.....
