Well, AGP 8X is theoretically a great idea, it's just not particularily useful with previous generations of games, and/or current implimentations. The need for a faster graphics bus, with higher memory bandwidth is a reality with upcoming games where the amount of detail (verticies, textures, etc.) rendered on-screen is tremendous. With previous games, like Quake 3, and such, AGP 4x was sufficient to transfer enough data to satisfy the capabilities of the GPU and graphics memory.

With more, and faster graphics memory, and faster GPU's, and such, more data needs to be transfered from the CPU/RAM/etc to the graphics card, so AGP 8x will be utilized.
