Default I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I STOPPED THOSE IMS

HI, I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY AOL. I KEPT ON GETTING THESE WEIRD IM MESSAGES. I ONLY STARTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM THIS WEEK. I CONTACTED A TECH AT AOL AND THEY JUST TOLD ME TO CHANGE MY PRIVACY SETTINGS SO IT ONLY ALLOWS PEOPLE ON MY BUDDY LIST. YOU CAN DO THAT BUT IF SOMEONE THAT U KNOW WANTS TO CONTACT YOU AND THEY'RE NOT ON YOUR BUDDY LIST THEY WONT BE ABLE TO IM YOU. I FIXED THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN. THESE IMS COME FROM AIM USERS WHICH ARE REGISTERED USERS. I WENT TO MY SETTINGS IN MY MEMBER PROFILE AND UNCHECKED THE BOX THAT SAYS "SHOW MY AOL PROFILE TO REGISTERED USERS WHEN THEY SEARCH MEMBER DIRECTORY". AFTER I UNCHECKED THAT BOX I STOPPED RECEIVING THOSE WEIRD IMS THAT YOU'VE BEEN GETTING ALSO. YOU SHOULD TRY DOING THIS. I HOPE YOU STOP GETTING THOSE IMS CAUSE I KNOW THEY'RE ANNOYING!

Since I don't use AOL, but use AIM, I don't think I have that option.

Good news..the spamming has seemed to have stopped for me, but here's another picture for those coming from Google to see the horrific experience this has been.
It's a addon for MSN Messenger that lets me talk to AIM users becuase I think AIM is Windows 95 ugly.

Default Hopefully stopped mine...

I'd been getting those same messages for about a week. And like somebody said, when you wake up you have like 16 or so messages to exit!! Anyway, finally I just went to one of the websites the links advertise and right at the bottom of the screen was a link to remove your screenname from their list. It says it takes up to 24 hours to work and I just entered mine, but hopefully this will work!

PS: Not all the links have it.

These didn't:
ReallySexyLocals.com
SexyPeopleNow.com
LoversHangout.com

This didn't work:
YourCityDating.com

These have the remove link at the bottom:
LocalDate.org
LocalDatenow.com
LocalSexySingles.org

Watch out if you go to one though, it starts trying to download stuff automatically so be ready to hit cancel!

Awesome Tara. Thanks for the notice. After I started getting all the spam, I tried going to a couple of the sites, looking for an unsubscribe option, but found none. I guess I just was unlucky when I picked two of the sites to visit.

FYI, these sites just link to www.addresshookup.com for the unsubscription. I can't specifically vouch for its legitimacy.

Default UGH

Well, I think that that remove link did work, but only for the three links it was listed on. I just got home to lots of messages from sexypeoplenow.com and lovershangout.com. Maybe someone will figure something out soon!!!!
