Default Microsoft Portrait Bugs Me!

The error message "Failed to run capture graph" is all I get when I press the Video button. Have corresponded with Microsoft but they can't understand why I get perfect video when I press Tools > Take A Picture. Have not heard from them for some time so imagine they have given up on me.
Has anybody else had this problem? Have had no trouble trying out other video conferencing tools. John

Heh, not only have I never used this (I'm sure wonderful) Microsoft product, but I've never even heard of it before.

By the way, what camera are you using? Checked for new drivers?

Thanks for reply. To find out more about Portrait go to
http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/

It looks like a potentially great tool. They also have a version for Pocket PCs. I was looking for a device that would let me do point-to-point video chat without going through a commercial server. Unbelievably, only Portrait and one called EWrama (from the Italian company E-Works s.r.l), will do this, all others having been bought up by the IRC Chat guys.
Would be interested to know if Portrait works for you.

It's a beta project and one that they haven't even been pushing til recently, I'm not sure how much anyone other MS or anyone associated with the MSDN dept. would be able to help.
