The Dock:

On the backside of the dock/transmitter base Altec Lansing has placed the Aux. audio device port for external devices, such as an external cd player. With this port you can also connect an RCA output device, but you must purchase an adapter to convert the RCA to a 3.5mm input. Most electronic supply stores carry these adapters. The dock also has an IR port next to the aux. in port, but there was no documentation regarding the purpose of this port. Next to these, are the two quick connect/disconnect ports for the external 75 Ohm FM "T" antenna, which is supplied with the system, for FM audio reception. The last feature on the backside of the dock is the power-in port where you plug the power adapter into. On the front side of the dock (see image above) you have a single standby switch which simply switches the M812 system from ON and Standby mode, and also allows you to synchronize the system from one of the three frequencies available. On either side of the standby switch, you have two green LED's that serve as a visual indicator when your dock base is ON or on Standby. There are two more LED's with a 1 and 2 heading next to the standby switch. When the 1 LED light is illuminated, this indicates that the transmitter/dock base is synchronized with a single M812 wireless speaker. When the 2 LED light is illuminated, this indicates that the transmitter/dock base has synchronized with two or more high performance wireless speakers.

The transmitter/dock base and speaker can communicate over three wireless radio frequency (rf) channels, the default being AUTO, but you can also manually select any one of the three channels should you find the need to.
