Altec Lansing M812 Wireless Speaker System

Altec Lansing

The Wireless Speaker:

The Altec Lansing wireless speaker contains two 4-inch woofers and two 1-inch tweeters, and is very handsomely done and will look very nice in any home. The speaker itself has an attractive back-lit LCD display on the front center area that indicates if it has a SYNC or NO SYNC with a dock base; indicates when you are connected with an IPOD, when you are in FM radio mode and if you are in Auxiliary device input mode. The front LCD also displays the volume level as you raise or lower it, and also shows the bass and treble levels you have selected. All of these functions are accessible via the infrared remote control unit.

The backside of the wireless speaker has four rubber pads and two screw hook slots for hanging the speaker on a wall; or you can sit the speaker on its' round base in the standard desktop upright position. On the lower backside of the speaker you can clearly see the AC power cord input and two multi-position switches. On the right is the mode switch which allows the speaker to broadcast in stereo mode (single speaker mode) or when using more than one wireless speaker, you can set the speakers independently to either function as the right side speaker or the left side speaker. The other switch next to this one is for enabling a sound ambience feature built-in which provides deep rich stereo sound regardless if you have the speaker hanging on a wall or sitting upon a table.

On the right side of the wireless speaker, you can see the manual input controls in the event you ever have any problems locating your wireless remote. The controls on the side are for the volume control, INPUT control (iPod, FM or Aux modes), Tune/Track control, and the power ON switch. The wireless speaker and dock have a range of 100 feet which comes in very handy for placing the dock base anywhere you may want in most homes.
