Additional Lighting
Adding lighting to your case is just plain and
simple fun. Annoy the guy sitting next to you at the LAN party, amaze your
friends with a kick ass green glow coming from under your desk. Xoxide
provides a simple resolution to the unlit community. How does it work you
ask? Read on...
Power
The lighting system works on the 12 volt circuit of
your PC. How convenient eh? Actually, that is just the input, a converter
does the trick to output the correct voltage. Most kits on the market
allow for only one light. Xoxide offers a two light kit with only one
transformer and a nice switch in case if the urge to slip into darkness overwhelms
you. Nice long wires are standard to allow for mounting of the converter
anywhere in the case. The converter is small and light, able to be mounted with
double sided tape.
Installation
Find a location to put the transformer. Preferably
out of the way to keep a clean look in your PC. Use mounting tape to keep it in
place, follow the same steps for the lights paying close attention to the
routing of the wires.
Find a switch location to your liking. Drill
the appropriate size hole, push it in (the tabs on the side of the switch will
hold it in place). Hook up the leads to the switch and your ready to rock!
Some recommendations: Make use of the 31/2"
and 51/4" blank bay covers, this is much less destructive
to the case and spares are usually available should you desire to revert back,
or sell the case without having a gaping hole. Conclusion Lighting mods are by far, the
easiest and most dramatic way to give your case a professional look.
Installation is simple, assuming you have the proper power supply to run
additional components. Pros Simple to install Cons Additional power requirement The Full Package This case with water cooling and
the lighting kit are impressive. Minimal knowledge of hardware is required
to put it all together, so all you beginners can jump onboard with little chance
of getting bit. The case is built well for the cooling kit and lights. Going for
another case should bring about some special care and research before
haphazardly thinking everything will just fit no problem. You may end up
doing some modding to fit all the parts. All-in-all, a very nice system
anyone can be proud of. Discuss this review in our forums!
