Testing:

    Setup:

        Abit KR7a-RAID

        Athlon XP 1800+

        Geforce 3

        Corsair XMS2700 DDR

        Arctic Silver 3

        Windows XP

All temperature readings were taken using a CompuNurse. For the load temp I decided to loop Quake 3 Arena demo on 1280x1024 using the highest display settings. I felt this would heat up the northbridge most considerably because it would require the intense use of the AGP video card, memory and CPU, which all run through northbridge.

Note: Readings may vary with the type of cooling on implemented on the CPU and case temperatures because different coolers may increase/decrease the amount of airflow circulating around the northbridge.

Conclusion:

The MegaMite beats out the stock HSF by a considerable margin for a chipset cooler on the northbridge. In general we are not dealing with a great deal of heat from a northbridge but those few degrees can many times mean a few FSB Mhz when overclocking, which can mean alot more CPU Mhz. The MegaMite proves to be a great active cooling solution for the northbridge and is a must for overclockers. The MegaMite is a definite 10 beers! Get your MegaMite here.
