Fanatec Porsche 911 Racing Wheel
Components:
Let's dive in and see what we find inside the packaging material. We pulled all of the components that makes-up the Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel and take a look at the supplied instruction manual. We highly recommend that everyone purchasing this wheel to first read the instruction manual prior to doing any installation. The Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel is designed to be used by both PC's and Playstations, but for this review we are focusing on the PC aspects.
The first internal bundle we unpack is the instruction manual/quick start guide paper drill template and a black steel plate. The paper drill template is for the optional mounting method for the wheel assembly, which provides the hole/fastener locations allowing the user to bolt down the wheel assembly through their desktop for those wanting a more permanent and strong mounting to a simulated home cockpit. The black steel plate is optionally meant for use with the pedals should the user find they want a more sturdy and heavier base for their pedals and can be used for mounting the pedals in a more permanent fashion in your home pit.
Following the manual/quick-start guide you can get the Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel installed in 6 easy steps. Again we cannot stress highly enough to follow the manual so-as to not have any problems and/or issues during your assembly and installation. We continue to unpack the contents of the internal packages and come across the optional four AA batteries, a phillips screwdriver and small pack of screws all provided by Fanatec so that you the consumer have everything you need to completely assemble and get-up and running. We also find and unpack the two stylish USB Porsche keys. These keys resemble realistically what a real Porsche key looks like with the ever attractive Porsche logo and shape on each one. Each of these keys serves a clear purpose and are not merely duplicates. In the last photo above right, the key on the left is in fact a 1GB USB stick that not only contains the full instruction manual in pdf format on it but also has the software and drivers needed to install the unit on your PC computer and/or Playstation system. The USB Porsche key on the right side is in fact the wireless interface "dongle" for the entire assembly, notice the two color LEDs in the "slot" area of the key that will provide helpful visual indicators to you during installation, of the different steps in the manual towards getting the wheel system up and going.
