AOpen AX4C Max II

Review by Harry Lam on 12.16.03
Motherboard provided by AOpen

Conclusion:

As always, AOpen has packed all of the high-end features into this motherboard, with its 8 USB 2.0 ports, Firewire support, RAID (both Serial ATA and Parallel ATA), and S/PDIF support on the onboard soundcard.  This motherboard does slightly outperform its Springdale counterparts, but the additional features should justify a buying decision between the the two chipsets.

Pros:
-Very expandable with 6 PCI slots and a wide array of included connectors
-Very nice implementation of the Canterwood chipset
-Supports the latest CPU and memory speeds
-Features both Serial ATA and Parallel ATA support with RAID
-Polished, jet black PCB
-Awesome features integrated onto the BIOS
-Watchdog Timer makes overclocking a snap

Cons:
-None
