Under the Hood of the MSI Wind, Upgrade Time!

The MSI Wind U100-422CA as it was handed to me came with one Gig of integrated DDRII RAM. The performance of the MSI Wind was perfect and I didn't see that I needed anything more running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition which came already loaded. The rest of TWL group who also got their hands on the other three MSI Winds wanted to upgrade their OS to Microsoft's Vista OS. So, they contacted our friends at Kingston and requested additional RAM. We were all outfitted with an additional 1Gig DIMM of DDRII. So far three of the four of us at the time of this review have upgraded to Vista. Those who have, have had no issues and the performance appears to be better than running XP.

Taking in all that makes up the guts of the Wind is very impressive to me. How one can pack in so much into a such a small package is simply amazing!
Shown here is one of the two speakers which is outfitted on the MSI wind.

Once the DIMM was installed and the bottom cover replaced I powered up the MSI Wind and ran a few different programs which came already loaded on the Wind. The performance wasn't noticeably faster running the preloaded XP OS. The other members of TWL who loaded Vista on their MSI Wind claim the performance was noticeably better with more RAM.
