Asus W5Fe Laptop
Performance:
We tested the Asus W5Fe using several benchmarking programs as well as real life applications to bring you an overall sense of the performance and usability of this laptop. Its is important to keep in mind that the W5Fe is meant as an ultra-portable device and as such is not aimed at the high performance user or market. That being said the hardware loadout of this device is quite impressive. We used the following programs to test:
- Sisoft Sandra
 - PCMark2005
 - CPUID
 - CrystalMark 2004 R2

Sisoft Sandra
Sisoft Sandra provides a synthetic testing of s systems components and subsystem and generates a score that is used to give a relative performance index when compared to other platforms and hardware.

What is interesting here is the overall performance of this system when compared to similar systems. The W5Fe does very well and even exceeds comparable systems in the storage performance and arithmetic performance areas. Unfortunately Sisoft Sandra has limited system information on laptop components and we were forced to compare the memory to desktop equivilants which are of course much faster. Hard drive performance is once again shown to be remarkable in the HD test in which the W5Fe scored well above all other drives it was compared to even though it did not have the fastest seek time in the group.
PCMark 2005
The PC Mark benchmark tests and entire system and provides a score based on that systems performance. PC Mark 05 does not fully support Vista so were were able to obtain only partial results.

CPUID
CPUID is not a benchmark, instead CPUID provides system information that can be used to verify components such as RAM, CPU, and Motherboard. This information is useful in determining what hardware your system actually has and how fast it is running.

CrystalMark 2004 R2
Similar in nature to the Sisoft Sandra benchmark the CrystalMark benchmark provides further information about several key areas of the system. These include FPU, ALU, Memory, Hard Drive, GDI, D2D, and Open GL information. What results is an overall system score made up of the combined scores of each of the sub systems.
