HP - Elite Autofocus Webcam
Testing Online
HP wants you to know that this cam is meant to be used online. On the box it says "For use with: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Windows Live Messenger, Skype, and Yahoo Instant Messenger. Almost all messengers are the same, and since AIM is the most popular this is where we directed most of our testing. Video quality remained the same throughout and can be shown by the pictures below. Skype, Yahoo, and Windows Live all recognized the camera with no problem and we were online in seconds. AOL Instant Messenger on the other hand gave us some minor problems. We had to have the latest version of AIM to use the HP Webcam. This is more than likely a fault of AIM rather than the webcam, however if you run into difficulties, make sure you have AIM Version 6.5.12.1 or higher. Aside from program difficulties, the HP Elite Autofocus Webcam performed flawlessly. As previously mentioned ArcSoft Magic-i must be running or you will present nothing more than a black screen to your onlooker.

Conclusion
The HP Elite Autofocus Webcam does its job and does it well. Though able to reach a resolution of 3MP on your home PC, you will more than likely never be able to achieve these resolutions over the internet. The HP Elite is a great camera and highly recommended for personal use. For any webcam - the higher the resolution the lower your FPS, and the HP is no exception. We highly recommend it to anyone in the market. For a price of only $99, the HP Elite Autofocus Webcam seems to be one of the best on the market for the money.
