The packaging of the Antec Veris Basic follows the product's name: basic. As you can see the contents of the box were stuffed inside the box and then covered by the remote. This way was rather unexpected and caught me by surprise as I did not expect Antec to go to such lengths to keep the Veris looking presentable despite its "Basic" variation. Included in the box were the remote, CD software, the Infra Red (IR) receiver, power cable, and a Standard USB to 5 pin converter. The reason why Antec included the the USB to 5 pin converter is because the USB cable that comes out of the module has a regular USB plug that can be plugged in into any regular port on the motherboard so that you don't end up taking the space for the front panel headers and dedicating them solely to the Veris. If do have an extra header on the motherboard you aren't using, then the USB converter will come in handy as you can plug in the IR module straight into a motherboard.

USB Port to USB Pin adapter |
Power Adapter draws power from the motherboard's 24 pin ATX supply |
The power adapter for this module can be thought of as both good and bad. It is great in a sense that its design does not require any extra open ports on your motherboard and can directly draw power from your 24 pin motherboard power source. On the flip side, however, if you do have an extra port and want to use it you will soon discover that Antec did not provide cables for you to do that.

Looking at the IR module design, one can see why the Veris Basic does not cost as much as some of Antec's other products such as Veris Multimedia Station Premier that Techwarelabs reviewed recently. In the front we have the plain faceplate with nothing but the product's name and a mirror-like glass behind which the receiver is located. On the back panel we have the 3 pin power connector, a 2 pin power connect that will not be needed (since the cable for it isn't provided) and the USB and "power switch" cable which plugs into your motherboard enabling remote Turn On and Shut Down of your PC.
