LITE-ON BLU-RAY DISC PLAYER

A Closer Look:

We unwrap the Lite-On Blu-ray Disc Reader and find an extremely attractive unit, with its' glossy white and black covers as well as the stylish Blu-ray Disc logo and Lite-On logos located on the pull-out tray and the Blu-ray Disc logo done large in a grey-silver on the glossy white cover side, very nicely done Lite-On and Philips. Moving around to the back side of the BD-ROM drive, we find the AC power connector plug - a USB-B port along with a power switch. On the underside of the unit they provided 4 soft feet to eliminate vibration should you choose to lay it flat on top of your desktop. Next we pull the acrylic base over and mate it securely to the side groove located on both sides of the BD-ROM unit, allowing the user to choose either side (left or right) to mount this unit vertically. This vertical orientation is perfect for people with crowded desktops, and/or also for placing the unit on the entertainment center shelf so that you can plug the unit into your Home Theatre PC (HTPC), should you want to play Blu-ray Disc movies from it onto your favorite big screen HDTV. You can see in the 4th image below that the Lite-On Blu-ray Disc Reader looks very glamorous in its' vertical orientation which calms any fears that this unit would not look nice in your entertainment area of the house. We ran a few Blu-ray titles through the drive unit, and found it to be exceptionally quiet in its' spin-up and playback. The lack of sound was incredible as we acknowledged that this unit would be perfect for an entertainment rooms HTPC media system plugged into a 1080P HDTV to watch crystal clear high-definition Blu-ray titles to your heart’s desire.
