Test Setup:

On the AMD side we used the following test bed.

AMD FX-60
DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR
OCZ PC3500 Gold
Maxtor 200GB SATA
XFX 7800 GTX 256MB

On the Intel side we used the following test bed.

Intel Pentium D 820
Intel Pentium D 840
Intel 955 XBK
OCZ PC5400 DDR2
Maxtor 200GB SATA
XFX 7800 GTX 256MB

Real World Benchmarks:

For real world benchmarks we put our systems through tests normal users would encounter. These include tests based upon the following actions and software:

1. MS Office 2003 Professional
2. Windows XP installation
3. Multitasking several applications

Crystal Mark

Crystal Mark stresses several key areas of the CPU and system which we tested here. Crystal Mark will test an entire system but for the purposes of this review we have limited the benchmark to those areas most closely associated with CPU performance, the ALU, FLU, and MEM. A combination of scores in these three categories gives an overall score that you see here.
