AMD Introduces Two New Low Power Processors
Responding To Consumers:
AMD has just released two new low pwer processors intended for the SFF and media center PC markets.
-
Athlon X2 BE-2350 (65nm, 64-bit, 45 watt, 2.1GHz, 1MB total dedicated L2 cache, 2000MHz HyperTransport bus, socket AM2) $91
-
Athlon X2 BE-2300 (65nm, 64-bit, 45 watt, 1.9GHz, 1MB total dedicated L2 cache, 2000MHz HyperTransport bus, socket AM2) $86
These processors are intended for the small form-factor and HTPC machines, but can be used for the energy-efficient platforms some businesses desire that will reduce power consumption, cooling requirements and power costs while reducing the footprint of these machines.
This release is motivated by the huge response AMD received when they last introduced low power processors with a 35 Watt rating and were taken by surprise by the demand and fell short on supply. AMD has since analyzed the situation, consumer needs, and introduces these two processors with additional features and promises enough supply to meet the growing demand for low power processing.
