StarTech has included everything you need in a single package. The drive comes with the AC adapter, a split USB cord, A copy of Nero 7 Essentials, and even blank media. After unboxing the drive and cables you are literally ready to use your new drive in less than 1 minute. Plug the drive into your Windows XP or Vista PC and the operating system automatically recognizes it as a DVD+/-RW drive. In order to burn DVDs and CDs with the drive you will still need the included Nero 7 Essentials or a program of your choice. A full listing of the drive capabilities is as follows:

Although the box states you need a USB 2.0 enabled desktop or laptop to use the device we were able to sucessfully use the drive in two USB 1 enabled desktops without an issue. This drive is ideal for users who find themselves with CD or CDRW drives in their desktop or laptop and desire the ability to read and write DVDs while also gaining the ability to take the drive portable without the added bulk and weight of a full size optical drive.
