A Closer Look:

Taking a closer look at the Thermaltake Vi-on we notice that it is constructed mostly of plastic with the exception of the metal meshing. The enclosure over all is very sturdy and was constructed very well. As the enclosure may look very appeasing, the downfall is that the black glossy finish holds finger prints very well. Shown below are pictures of the device from various angles, to view them at a larger size you may click on them.

Taking a closer look at the base of the Thermaltake Vi-on we see that there are ventilation slots to allow the intake of air for the fan. The physical look of the base is identical to that of the enclosure with the exception of a flared bottom to help stabilize the unit. The enclosure secures to the base by placing the enclosure over the base and sliding it down. It is held in place by both gravity and friction.

Taking a look on the inside of the enclosure, we find that there is a unique suspension system to help lower noise and vibrations generated by the hard drive. Also the side panel has a thin sheet of foam to help ensure quite operation. Located on the bottom of the enclosure is a small fan to help ventilate and cool down the hard drive.

Installation:

The installation of a hard drive in the Thermaltake Vi-on is extremely easy. To open the enclosure you want to remove the four screws on the bottom of the enclosure and slide off the side panel. Once the enclosure is open, place the hard drive in place and slide it into the connectors and then put it back together.

As you can see in the picture below, the nice black sleek look allows for it to fit in with all of your other black components. Also noticeable in the picture below is blue LED light indicating the Thermaltake Vi-on is powered on.
