Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare runs on a proprietary engine and with features that include true world-dynamic lighting, HDR lighting effects, dynamic shadows, and depth of field. "Bullet Penetration" is calculated by the engine, taking into account factors such as surface type and entity thickness. Certain objects, such as cars and some buildings, are destructible. This makes distinguishing cover from concealment important, as the protection provided by objects such as wooden fences and thin walls do not completely protect players from harm. Bullet speed and stopping power are decreased after penetrating an object, and the decrease is dependent on the thickness and surface type of the object. The game makes use of a dynamic physics engine, not implemented in previous Call of Duty titles. Death animations are a combination of pre-set animations and ragdoll physics. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

The results of test clearly display that Call of Duty 4 is definitely not a challenge for Palit's Radeon 4870's in CrossFire nor a single card configurations. Producing 102 and 179 frames per second respectively is way more than the 30 fps magic number that the human eye can recognize. With the lows never reaching lower than 24 fps anyone with a single 4870 will have no difficulty playing this game at its highest settings and in any terrain in the game without experiencing a choppy frame rate.

Once a very demanding resource - intensive game, Half Life 2 Episode 2 now struggles to make the 4870 to lift anything more than a pinky. Half Life 2 Lovers can now defeat Striders, Hunters, and Advisors at over 160 frames per second. At this point CrossFire is completely unnecessary as human eye won't be able to distinguish a 15 fps difference in the hundreds range. Since Half Life 2 is an older game, it also does not have anything that can present a significant challenge for the 4870 even at its highest settings.
