Palit GTX 280 SLI
A Closer Look:
Taking a closer look at the Palit GTX280, we find out many interesting features. As you can see in the following image, the 280GTX is a dual slot card, which is used for superior cooling, as most of it is a huge heatsink. As with most higher end graphics cards, there is a large fan that blows air from the inside of your case out through the back exhaust of the graphics card.
You will notice that Palit didn't use a standard square design for their card, but gave the unique recessed look where the GPU fan is located. Something that you may notice unique about this card, is that the card itself is completely concealed within the case, which the back and part of the top of the GTX 280 acts as a heatsink to help lower the temperature of the card itself.
On the tail end of this GTX280 we see the fan and two small rubber bumpers on the end of the card to help prevent damages from knocking it up against something. Also you may notice that the casing around the fan is designed so that it helps push air down the graphics card and out the exhaust, without air being trapped on this end of the card.
Also on this end of the graphics card is where the power adapters are located. Requiring both a six pin and an eight pin power plugs, you can tell that this card must have some true power behind it. Located on the bottom of the card are sever UPC and information stickers.
Now onto the opposite end of the graphics card, as noted on the previous page, the GTX280 has two DVI outputs. You can notice that all of the plugs are all located on one side of the device while the other side is the exhaust vent for the air that travels through the graphics card.
One of the most interesting and neat features that the Palit GTX280 had was a SLI ribbon cover. A small rubber casing fits snuggly over the two SLI ports, this will help prevent them from corroding over time or even from damage. If you are not going to be using the Multi-GPU feature that these offer, then you wont be using these ports, so why not cover them up? Helping to prevent them from getting damage and it even gives it a nice sleek and professional look.
