Overclocking:

Our initial testing of the overclocking capabilities of this board started with the ASUS CPU Level Up. We took our 2.66GHz stock Q6700 and Kingston DDR3-1375 RAM and went into the BIOS menu.

Using the Crazy option, we got the following results:

Note that the RAM stayed at the same frequency, it changed the FSB:RAM ratio along with the FSB so it could stay the same. We decided to do our own custom overclock with the processor and Kingston RAM. The overclock table is listed below:

Now here's where it got interesting. You could tell we were striving quite hard for that 1500FSB by looking at our Vdimm. Little did I realize, DDR3 has much smaller voltage requirements than DDR2, and I had accidentally looked at the specifications of our Kingston DDR3-1600 kit for voltages accidentally. The ACTUAL operating voltage for the 1375MHz RAM was 1.7V, and we were running 2.1V! Our system booted just long enough for us to get a couple of screenshots before frying our Western Digital Velociraptor drive, but the RAM held up just fine! Sorry Western Digital!
