Testing and Benchmarks:
The display on the front of the 2200-GP does not require any software for the default status, temp and rebuild screens. Though the 2200-GP does come with software to monitor the 2200-GP through the OS. The drawback at this point is the software that was sent will not work on Vista, but it does support Windows XP. The first test we did was the "Pull and Pray" test. This consists of running your PC with an OS and the RAID system stating that the RAID volume is "OK" and we simply pull one of the drives out of the system and then Pray in hopes that everything still runs. Well, the 2200-GP didn't even blink. While playing Crysis the primary drive was pulled from the system. There was not even a hesitation. After a minute or two I reinstalled the primary drive and the 2200-GP spun up the drive and started a sync/rebuild without any user interaction. Nice!
This process shows that even if one of the drives fails, a simple installation of a new drive and sliding it into place starts a re-build process without the consumer or business ever experiencing a moment of downtime. This is performance that you cannot buy and precious time you save while your server and business remain functional. Small businesses hosting their own websites and checkout carts should pay special attention. Downtime will cost you much more than just the replacement of hardware, its also the cost of lost revenue and sales.

Benchmarks:
For benchmarking the ARAID 2200-GP we chose the following benchmark software:
Crystaldiskmark 2.1
SiSoft XII SP2
DataMarck ver. 0.0.4
ARAID 2200-GP |
Single Western Digital 220GB SATA |
This is pretty impressive as the ARAID not only has to send the data to two drives at the same time, but it was able to do so at such speed that the single Western Digital 220GB drive couldn't beat it. Now, results may very depending on the hard drive the consumer purchases for their own ARAID 2200-GP.

The 2200-GP with its Deskstar drives did very well here. |
The benchmark of physical disks in the SiSoft XIIc was very impressive. Again the results will very depending on the the drives within the 2200-GP, but with the Hitachi Deskstar's the results of the this benchmark were very impressive as the 2200-GP was near the top of the list of comparison drives.
