Lian Li PC-A06F Computer Case

Installation

Motherboard

The motherboard installed easily enough. Unlike in the PC-A77, Lian Li did not provide the screw driver for mounting motherboard screws, but that was not significantly major, nor is it induced with the most cases s..old on the market today. Also, the motherboard tray was not removable, however, there was enough space for a smooth installation.

Hard Drive

Intalling the Hard Drive was also a rather a pleasurable experience compared to most of the cases that were reviewed. Similarly to the PC-A77’s package the PC-A06F came with a series of screws with rubber dampers that get secured to the hard drive and then inserted into the slot.

Graphics Card

After installing the drive, the graphics card was next. The installation of this piece of hardware also went smoothly. The case, however, was beginning to feel small despite the fact that the graphics card that was installed was not large at all.

Power Supply

Up until this point there were absolutely no problems with the installation. At power supply phase everything began to go downhill. The combination of the power supply and the aftermarket CPU heatsink consumed so much space that there was barely anything left to do the wiring. Furthermore, the exhaust fan was extremely close to both the CPU heatsink fan and the exhaust fan from the power supply thereby creating a vacuum that made a whistling nose when the computer was on.

In addition to internal problems, the case also had external ones. Since Lian Li realized that they would not be able to fit the entire power supply inside of the case, they opted to go with the half and half approach. Half of the power supply would be outside the case while the otehr half would be inside. To do this Lian Li has provided a couple of brackets that secure the power supply to the PC-A77 like shown in the picture. The benefits of using this technique are obvious: the case will fit in places that are not very high, however, it will end up sticking out length wise. Having part of the power supply mounted outside in my case added an extra 3-4 inches to the length of the case.

  1. Hello…
It is nice information about the Lian Li PC-A06F Computer Case. It is useful. You have done nice work. I like this information. Thank you so much…

  2. I agree the wart hanging off the back is quite ridiculous.

I use the Lian Li PC-A05, there is a revised PC-AO5N out there.

They both keep the ugly inside. It is a better solution. Mine gets warm, but never too hot for the system. It is only 4% bigger than the A06F
