Three tests were used to test this drive. The benchmarks were ran three times and the average was taken of each time ran. The first was done using HD Tune Pro. For this test, the minimum read speed is 20.9 MB/s, and the maximum read speed is 30.3 MB/s. With such a large gap in the minimum and maximum, the fact that the average speed is 22.6 MB/s is expected and not a bad start. We then moved on to Flash Memory Toolkit. This benchmark was developed by the same developers as HD Tune, but is supposed to be optimized for Flash Memory. With this test our results were 21.3 MB/s minimum, 29.9 MB/s maximum, and 24.1 MB/s average. Not much better than the results from HD Tune, the more specialized Flash Memory Toolkit gave us a whole 1.5 MB/s more in average write speed. The final test was done using SiSoft Sandra. Relatively close to the average of the other two benchmarks, SiSoft gave a 23.3 MB/s average read speed, as well as 20.3 MB/s Minimum and 30.4MB/s maximum. The good part about all of these benchmarks is that they were fully supported by real world testing. What can I say, this drive is lightning fast and super sized. What a combination!

Benchmarking the Super Talent Luxio 64GBConclusion

All in all the Super Talent Luxio performed better than expected. For a drive weighing in at 64GB, this thing is blazing fast. Super Talent took the technology that made the Pico Drive so popular, and put it to good use making this one of the smallest 64GB Drives on the market today. Fortunately they didn’t sacrifice speed and size for looks, and some how managed to throw in portability. The ability to buy this and have it shipped for less than $150 makes this drive strong competition for other high capacity flash drive manufacturers. With that said, this drive truly deserves our Awesome Hardware Award.
