The Athlon II X2 240e is an AM3 processor, and looks fairly unremarkable from the outside. Of course, we all really care about what it can do rather than how it looks, so let’s get to testing!
Testing
Testing was performed with the following system:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240e @ 2.80 GHZ
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA785GPMT-UD2H
Heatsink: Zalman CNPS10x Extreme
RAM: 2x2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1333, 8-8-8-20 default timings
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA-II; single-drive mode
HDD2: Western Digital Caviar GreenPower 500GB SATA-II (5900RPM); single-drive mode
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4830, 512MB GDDR3 memory
Sound: Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Edition
Case: Silverstone FT-01 Fortress
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Drivers: Catalyst 9.9
Note: The Athlon II 240e only supports DDR3 at speeds up to 1066, so the ram on this system is actually downclocked from its full speed.
