Crysis Warhead
While CryTek did a lot to optimize their CryEngine 2 engine for Crysis Warhead, the fact remains that this is a very resource-intensive game. “Yeah, but will it run Crysis?” is still the rallying cry of the hardcore gamer when discussing system performance. Testing was done with a play through of the first section of the first level, which puts you in control of Psycho as he makes a mad dash through dense jungles to a beach resort taken over by the North Korean army. These tests were run with v sync disabled, and all detail settings set to the Mainstream preset, which corresponds to the Medium preset in the original Crysis.
With Mainstream detail settings and 2xAA enabled, this system managed to maintain an average of 30 frames per second–not stellar, but definitely playable.
Turning off AA and raising the resolution actually improved performance somewhat, with the average framerate rising to 35 FPS.
