Benchmarks Continued:
Dr. Hardware:
Since 1994 Dr. Hardware is among the most advanced system information programs being on the market for 15 years now. This program for beginners and professional users, for your desktop computer as well as for your notebook or netbook.Dr. Hardware covers the whole machine and includes not only the common stuff (like processor detection etc.) but also some more sophisticated tests like hardware sensor, ATA/S-ATA/Atapi and network analysis. Also it comes with 7 benchmark tests and provides full support for all 32 and 64 Bit Windows desktop versions: Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000, 2003, XP and Vista. |
Using a recently added benchmark tool, Dr Hardware assists us with comparing the processor in our test machine with other processors on the market today. The benchmarks below show you that even though the price of the AMD Athlon II X4 635 may have a lesser price tag, it doesn’t come up short on performance. The 635 isn’t the screaming gaming performance driven processor, but it sure holds up pretty well against its competition.
The 635 is matched up with close competitors. | Multistones (Overall Index/ All CPU) |
The 635 makes a good show on the CPU/Memory department, beating out a Phenom X4. Take note the rest of the CPUs in this benchmark are all priced considerably higher. The Multi Processor benchmark is a bit of a surprise as a core 2 Duo 6300 takes the lead in this benchmark by a lot. We have had some time working with the 635 now for three weeks and as a end user’s experience we don’t see a performance difference though the benchmark tells us different.
Conclusion:
The AMD Athlon II X4 635 at the stock settings isn’t much of an advancement or departure from the 2009 release of the AMD Athlon II X4 630. Those of you who for those looking to install a processor into their PC which is going to be running stock settings the 630 will save you a few bucks and will perform admirably. The rest of you who are looking to squeeze the most out of a processor and are choosing between the 630 and the 635 will likely choose the 635 since we were able to over-clock the processor an additional 600MHz on air alone. Though overall we were looking for the Athlon II which was to follow the 630 to leave the 630 way behind, but the 635 at stock didn’t leave us speechless, but the 635 did make us smile while over-clocking. For the money for a quad core processor the AMD Athlon II X4 635 is the best bang for your dollar.
