New leak from Apple’s support staff:
Lion is likely to be released on a flash drive next month for $70. While the program is still up in the air, and discounts for app-store upgraders uncertain, this meshes well with the USB reinstall media provided with the recent Macbook Air revision. That is, the one that was current until yesterday. Today’s model may be relying much more heavily on the App Store and therefore your broadband connection (or lack thereof).
Editors note: If this is correct it really signifies a fundamental shift in software distribution for more than just Apple. As we are already well aware Apple is the trend setter by which much of the industry follows. Could we see Windows 8 on USB? I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one if I were you.
