Everyday Life with the C200 and Final Thoughts

I think it is safe to say that the Asus C200 has changed the way I travel with my mobile devices. How? No more coffee shop scavenger hunts for an outlet. No more panic attacks when I just typed an entire paper and my laptop shuts down on me. Most importantly, no more anxiety attacks when someone bumps into my backpack at school, or I set it down just a little too hard, and worrying that my laptop broke.
As a student, battery life, weight, and flexibility of my laptop is very important to me. The C200 has allowed me to have long study sessions at the library without worrying about charging my laptop. Prior to the C200, I owned an older version of the Sony Vaio. The prehistoric gadget had about two hours’ worth of battery, which required me to constantly sit next to an outlet and have the charger on hand. With that being said, I was ecstatic with the battery life of the C200, which completely eliminated all of my previous hassles. Along with the limited battery life, the Vaio was bulky, heavy, and fragile; so fragile I had to transport it in a padded backpack. The C200 fits in my standard Jansport backpack in between all of my books and I do not have to worry that the slightest touch will cause any damage due to the sturdy design.
The C200’s aesthetic appeal has also brought inquiries from many people. Multiple times people I know and also complete strangers would comment on how nice my laptop looked. They were mostly stunned by the sleek look and intrigued by the Chrome OS. Needless to say, the C200 was a conversation starter. At home, the new 802.11 AC wireless connectivity provide some lightning fast transfer speeds on my home network.
Although this laptop sounds too good to be true, the cons associated with the C200 were minor compared to all of the pros. I often found a sluggishness start to happen when I had many tabs open. Also, scrolling with many PDFs open would cause the screen to stutter, and opening a new tab was often met with a short delay. Thankfully, no major crashes or complete freeze ups ever occurred. In regards to video playback, I found viewing at 720p provided the best performance. 1080p video streaming was an option, but when in use I found it also caused a couple of hiccups along the way.
Overall, the C200 quickly became the perfect study tool for a student that is constantly on the go. I get to have the robustness of a laptop and the lightweight properties of a tablet all in the same device. The same effect could be achieved by other competing Chromebooks, but none can even compare to the insane battery life the Asus C200 possesses.
