Casio Edifice Digital Watch

The Fine Details:

The EFA132 is very nicely built and features that speak of the attention to detail that goes into the Edifice series. This is excellent considering that this is the lowest end of the Edifice line the watches should only get better as you progress through the styles.

The watch features a blackout dial with copper accents for the markers, numbers, and indicators. The case is finished in a gloss IP black with chrome buttons on one of which is stamped the Edifice logo.  In the center of the dial Casio has used white analog hour and minute hands with glow in the dark hands. The standard rubber strap you would find on average watches has been replaced with an extra thick band with knurled texture finish.

Overall the watch has a distinctly heavier feel than most digital watches due to the enhanced case, dial rim, case back, and probably strap as well.  On a functional as well as design note the digital readout is subdued at a normal reading angle unless tilted in which case the LCD characters reflect the light.  Upon reflecting the light the LCD characters are show easily and are done in orange and copper to match the tones of the watch.

The overall effect the watch has is that the time is quite easily readable at a glance and the detailed information in the foreground does not detract from the looks.  Finer foreground detail is just as easily made readable when desired. Casio has implemented an auto light feature whereby the EL backlight activates with the flick of a wrist normally made when checking the time.  This little feature comes in very handy and makes you realize what you are missing on lesser designed watches.
