HD Tune:
HD Tune is also one of our favorite benchmarking tools. It provides detailed information about the drive features in addition to measuring the read and write speeds.

HD Tune File Benchmark |
HD Tune benchmarks a drive by performing random reads and writes (which are the majority of the type of operations encountered in daily use). We can see that the M225 scored an average read speed of 173.4 MB/s. Notice how the line for the read graph stays mostly horizontal. This is consistent with how SSD’s are theoretically not supposed to decrease in speed as you move across the drive. The drive also shows an average write speed of 152.0 MB/s. The file benchmark portion of HD Tune is similar to our other benchmark tool ATTO Disk Benchmark. It shows the throughput for different file sizes. As you can see the results come in very close to the advertised 250 MB/s read and 190 MB/s write speed.
ATTO Disk Benchmark:
ATTO Disk Benchmark is a popular and free program used to measure transfer rates across specified lengths. The bandwidth results here are not necessarily entirely reliable for reporting the maximum drive speeds, but it does help convey results of the bandwidth for different file sizes, so it’s best to view ATTO in the context of throughput or IOPS (Input/Output Operations per Second) performance.
Just like the the file benchmark in HD Tune, the drive comes in around it’s advertised speeds. It’s always good to see a manufacturer deliver on their promises.
