Conclusion:
The D-Life Internet Surveillance starter kit is just that a starter kit, this is obviously not designed to be a stand alone defense for your home but merely a way of checking in on a babysitter or letting you know when someone shows up at your house uninvited. The product is severely hampered by its biggest feature the ability to securely upload directly to D-Lifes website. Securely uploading is severely hampered by the lack of storage space on the website. The 100 snapshots which you are allowed to upload goes by very quickly, in my testing I was filling the 100 shots in about 3-4 days mostly with just the ambient light changing. If D-Life allowed you to record to a networked hard drive or personal server space you could get far more use out of this as a surveillance device.
My recommendation is that if you are looking for a basic surveillance device perhaps for a dorm room or other single point of entry areas, then this device may be something you could use, otherwise you may be better off with a standard CCTV system.
