To benchmark the D-Link DUB-CR200 I used Flash Memory Toolkit and HD Tune Pro to do a comparative test of the read and write speeds of a Kingston SD card and a Kingston 4GB flash stick that were plugged into the D-Link DUB-CR200. Here are the results.
| Kingston DataTraveler 4GB | Kingston 512 SD Card |
As you can see, the results are adequate and nothing below standard. The SD card I used is a low end card and received low-end results, so don’t let that result make you think that the SD card reader is slow (it was the only SD card I had). Sadly, I was not able to test connecting this to a router, because it doesn’t come with the adapter. Overall, this is a good hub.
Conclusion
The D-Link DUB-CR200 USB 2.0 Hub with Card Reader proved to be a very good USB hub, and a decent media card reader. There are a few downsides to this product though; there are only 3 USB ports, and the card reader does not support SDHC which is a killer for me, because that’s all I use. So what’s the verdict? The verdict is simple: it’s works as advertised* and even though it’s been discontinued, I’d definitely use this review to buy something similar from D-Link in the future.
(*doesn’t come with USB to ethernet adapter)
