Overclocking and Benchmarks

I was able to get the A8 up from 3.6 to 4.1GHz stable by just raising the multiplier. When setting the multiplier higher the board would add quite a bit more voltage and like I mentioned on the last page I was unable to decrease it. And because of a chip bug I couldn’t see my temps, so I decided to just stop at the fairly respectable 500MHz bump.

SiSoft Sandra

SiSoft Sandra is a good tool capable of testing just about every part of your system. I focused on two CPU intensive benchmarks, arithmetic processing, and multi-media performance. By overclocking the 5600k we were able to get around an 8% increase overall in the benchmark.

Stock 4.1GHz Overclock

Passmark tests the system as a whole, CPU, 2D, 3D, etc. By looking at the CPU performance section we can see that our overclock netted a 6-7% increase. Our overall system score increased by about 4% as well.

x264 HD

x264 is a benchmark that measures how fast your PC can encode 1080p video into the x264 format. Our overclock gave us between a 2-10% boost in performance overall.

  1. Yay, knock-off gold colored substandard Taiwanese solid capacitors. The gold color makes them perform better.
