Fractal Design Adjust 108 Fan Controller

Installation

Installation was about as straight forward as it gets.  Just slide the controller in, screw it down, and hook up the power and fans. The only time consuming part of the installation is getting the cables to tuck away neatly if you care about that sort of thing.

The black brushed aluminum face and low profile sliders give a subtle, sleek look to just about any case.

General Use

The Adjust 108 was tested by just simply using it in an everyday/gaming PC. I found the sliders to have a nice stiff resistance to them and a solid feel with no slop in the movement. It feels like a well built unit.

Something you immediately notice with this controller is that the LED and fan speed don’t react immediately to a slider movement, instead having a short delay. I didn’t find this to be a problem though.

The LEDs are not extremely helpful, basically just telling you whether you are in the top or bottom half of the slide. But at the 50% setting they are just a subtle glow that compliment the LEDs already in my case so I decided to keep them. You can choose to completely turn them off if you prefer.

The only problem that I have with the Adjust 108 is that it isn’t possible to completely turn off a fan. Most gaming rigs have lots of fans in every possible location, but most of them aren’t necessary unless the system is being taxed. Having the capability to turn off those unused fans until they are needed would be a nice feature to see in the future.

Although in our test system the controller was relatively under worked (only running 4 average-draw fans) it is capable of handling some seriously powerful fans, and lots of them.
Fractal Design claims 36W per channel, which is massive. To put that in perspective, the Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm (a very powerful, very loud fan) only pulls a measly 7.2W at full tilt.
The point here is that you can very easily hook multiple fans to one channel should you have more than 6 in your case.
